Overview

EduNet is an offline-first mobile learning platform designed to support collaborative education in environments with limited or unreliable internet connectivity. By leveraging peer-to-peer communication, the application enables students to share learning resources, participate in classroom activities, and collaborate locally without requiring continuous internet access.

The project was built with accessibility and resilience in mind, ensuring that learning can continue regardless of network availability.

The Problem

Many educational platforms assume constant internet connectivity, making them less effective in classrooms where stable access is unavailable. Students often struggle to exchange files, receive classroom updates, or continue learning when disconnected.

Traditional learning management systems also provide limited support for localized collaboration in offline environments.

The Goal

The objective was to design an offline-first mobile application capable of supporting classroom communication, resource sharing, and collaborative learning using local wireless technologies.

The platform aimed to make educational content consistently available while encouraging interaction between students and instructors.

My Role

As Mobile Application Developer, responsibilities included designing mobile user interfaces, developing Flutter screens and navigation, implementing offline-first workflows, building classroom interaction features, and optimizing application performance.

Design Approach

The interface prioritizes clarity and ease of navigation to minimize distractions during learning sessions. Educational content remains the focal point, while simple navigation patterns allow users to quickly switch between classrooms, resources, discussions, and assignments.

Offline availability influenced every design decision, ensuring that essential features remain functional without internet connectivity.

Key Features

Offline Classrooms - Students can join nearby classrooms and continue participating even without an active internet connection.

Peer-to-Peer Communication - Bluetooth-based communication enables nearby devices to exchange educational content directly.

File Sharing - Students and instructors can securely exchange lecture notes, presentations, assignments, and supporting materials through local device connections.

Classroom Discussions - Offline messaging allows classroom conversations to continue even in disconnected environments.

Learning Resources - Students can access notes, assignments, quizzes, and announcements directly from their local device.

Local Data Storage - Course materials and classroom information are stored locally, allowing learners to continue studying without interruption.

Challenges

Designing an application that remains fully functional offline required careful planning around data synchronization, storage management, and user expectations.

Maintaining a consistent experience across both connected and disconnected states was another significant challenge throughout development.

Outcome
